If you are new to security, or community safety and crime prevention, then you’ve found the right page. The web is full of useful bits of helpful information, but they don’t help anyone if they’re spread all over. I’ve attempted to collect useful tips, solid advice, and link relevant resources here in one place for your convenience.

A major frustration for both myself and others was that, either as a professional security officer, or as a volunteer neighborhood safety and crime watch volunteer, there was often little supplemental information and training that went beyond the bare minimum required to do the job. Program hand-outs, fliers, flimsy training manuals, and photocopied pages have been the norm for years now. So I wanted to change all that by collecting information I needed or found useful, and make it available to like-minded individuals.

Can’t find what you’re looking for? Send me a message and I’ll see what I can find for you. Have something you want to share? Let me know and we’ll get it posted. It’s my hope to make this a one-stop shop for volunteers and professionals hoping to become more effective in doing what it is they do in the field.

Hello, my name is Gerald “Silver” Williams.  In my “day job”, I’m a security professional for a multi-national, billion dollar manufacturing corporation, which isn’t nearly as impressive as it looks on paper. In my “night job”, I don my metaphorical cape and promote safety, emergency preparedness, and crime prevention in various communities and on-line.

Currently a licensed security guard through New York State, my training and duties include dispatching Medical Emergency Response Team and County HazMat Unit, HazMat First Response, Incident Command, NYS Department of Homeland Security – Enhanced Security Guard Training, plant and asset protection, Basic First Aid w/ CPR & AED.

Outside of work I’ve received training and participated in Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Search and Rescue, disaster recovery, neighborhood watch, community safety patrol, PPCT, Defensive Tactics, three years martial arts, and have participated in training with the Guardian Angels.

I currently reside in Upstate New York (actual Upstate.. near Canada), with my loving wife and cat.
