Strangers helping an elderly man

“Kindness of Strangers”, Ed Yourdon

Neighborhood safety and community crime prevention aren’t just the responsibility of the authorities, but also the responsibility of civic-minded members of the community.  Budget cuts and manpower shortages have stretched municipal resources thin in many townships and cities across the country.  To fill the gaps, everyday citizens have had to step forward to lend their aid with community clean-up projects, neighborhood watch, Community Emergency Response Teams, homeless outreach, and many other activities.  That’s where this handbook comes into play.  Hopefully this guide will help give you ideas as to what you can do to aid your community and make finding the correct resources needed for these tasks at your fingertips.
